The Effect Of One Hangover On My Stats

I’m never drinking again

I set aside specific times of the day and week to write. I am at my best in those times — and it feels like my writing just flows.

Last Friday night, October 2nd, a friend of mine invited me over for a socially-distanced martini. My gut instinct said, “no, don’t go, drinking will screw up your writing goals for tomorrow.”

But then the devil on my shoulder said, “oh, just go and have some fun — one drink won’t hurt. You need to socialize and experience life to be a better writer.”

So the devil won. I visited my friend. And I had two martinis. Not one, two.

And I had the worst hangover on Saturday morning, October 3rd. Saturday — when I usually do all of my writing.

My favorite time to sit and write. I get in the flow and can write for hours and hours.

Not this Saturday. I was miserable with a headache and a general feeling of total body sickness. I’m only 5' 2" and I weigh about 135 (I should be less, but I currently have the COVID 15 lbs), so two martinis is a lot for me.
